Vitalis Smart Communities, a national technology advisory firm specializing in bulk internet and smart building solutions, has successfully completed a technology transition for Coach Homes at Mariners Village (185 units), a residential community in Orlando, Florida, previously dependent on legacy coaxial infrastructure for internet and TV services.
Prior to Vitalis engagement, the community received internet through a legacy coax copper network. Despite increasing demand from residents for faster speeds, modern TV platforms, and improved customer support, the incumbent provider refused to upgrade infrastructure, increase speeds, and lower costs.
To address these concerns, Vitalis led a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process, with regional and national internet service providers (ISPs). Vitalis worked closely with the HOA board and residents to guide them through the transition, prioritizing transparency and education to ensure confidence in evaluating alternatives to the incumbent provider.
“As advisors, our mission is to educate and empower communities so they can make informed choices that serve residents’ long-term interests,” said Maz Khan, President of Vitalis Smart Communities. “We recognized the hesitation some communities feel about changing providers.”
Following a competitive negotiation process led by Vitalis, the community selected Blue Stream Fiber to deliver fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure, offering symmetrical internet speeds up to 1 Gbps and a robust TV platform, all at significantly reduced costs. Vitalis also ensured Blue Stream Fiber would act as a long-term partner to the community, facilitating multiple town halls and educational events to support residents through the transition.
“This is a perfect example of how a community can transform its technology landscape, improve resident satisfaction, and save money when equipped with the right information and guidance,” Khan added.
