Miami Beach, FL — Vitalis Smart Communities advised Bayview Terrace, a 195-unit COA community in Miami Beach, on a full fiber transformation. Vitalis negotiated a renewal with the incumbent provider on owner-favorable terms, reducing connectivity costs by 40% and replacing its aging copper coax infrastructure with a multi-gig fiber-to-the-unit network and in-unit WiFi 7.
Bayview Terrace had been running on legacy copper coax, the same wiring that has served the building for years and that increasingly limits speed, reliability, and resident satisfaction. Rather than replace the incumbent relationship, Vitalis structured a renewal and upgrade with the existing provider, securing a commitment to deploy full fiber and modern WiFi 7 equipment across the property on terms that favor the owner.
“Boards are often told their only options are to stay stuck on old infrastructure or start over from scratch,” said Maz Khan, President and Co-Founder of Vitalis Smart Communities. “Neither is true. At Bayview Terrace we kept the provider relationship intact, moved the community to multi-gig fiber and WiFi 7, and took 40 percent out of the cost at the same time. That is what happens when someone at the table represents the owner, not the ISP.”
The upgrade positions Bayview Terrace for the next decade of resident demand. Multi-gig fiber removes the bandwidth ceiling of copper coax, and WiFi 7 delivers faster in-unit speeds, lower latency, and better performance across the dozens of connected devices now common in every home. For the community, the result is higher service quality and a materially lower cost structure.
Vitalis represents owners, boards, and developers, never internet service providers. The firm audits existing telecom agreements, runs competitive processes, and negotiates Internet and TV strategy including bulk Internet, exclusive and non-exclusive marketing agreements, and full smart community technology. To date Vitalis has negotiated more than $1.5 billion in MDU telecom contract value.
“We do not broker deals and leave,” Khan added. “We stay in the relationship, manage the deployment, and make sure the community actually gets what was negotiated.”
Communities typically have an 18 to 24 month window before their current agreement expires to evaluate their options and negotiate from a position of strength. Vitalis offers boards and owners a complimentary review of their existing telecom agreements to identify savings and upgrade opportunities.
